Why Clive James should be the next Oxford Poet

“What male teacher is going to escape a sexual harassment case? All you’ve got to do is stand there, and you’re sexually harassing them.”

Ick, ick, ick.

Here hear James read his poem for Walcott...

It's his dream job.

The SofQ poets are particularly nasty Silliman suggests, but the Hound suspects excessive careerism might bite us all in the butt.

Wow I was about to say the same thing.

That post of Ron's makes me very uncomfortable, like the exchange he had with Leslie Scalapino some time ago:
"[W]omen, people of color, sexual minorities, the entire
spectrum of the 'marginal' - have a manifest political need to
have their stories told [so that] their writing [...] often
appears much more conventional"
'What / Person: From an Exchange,' Leslie Scalapino and Ron Silliman, Poetics Journal 9, eds.
Barrett Watten and Lyn Hejinian, June 1991. p.51.
It seems he hasn't grown up much.
